After a number of social media posts hinting at it, Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini has finally announced its first NFT (non-fungible token) project. It's called Space Key and created in collaboration with an unidentified artist, it is based on a piece of advanced carbon fiber composite material that was sent to the International Space Station for research purposes.

The new project, called the Space Key, is a work that was created in collaboration with an unidentified artist. The NFT is a unique piece of digital art that can be accessible via the use of a QR code. The project is limited to five pieces and will be auctioned off in the coming weeks.
The Space Key is made from carbon fiber composite materials which Lamborghini shipped to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of research project. The carbon fiber was then created into a distinctive artwork when it returned to Earth. The physical component includes an NFT serial code that links to the digital image via QR code located on the back.

Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that takes place at different times when the Lamborghini Ultimae takes off towards the stars. Each of the five images was captured by photographer Fabian Oefner and contains over 600 million pixels.
Oefner utilized an inflatable camera fitted with a lens to capture the individual images, which were then added to the final picture. The result is a truly out of this world photograph that captures both the beauty of the Earth as well as the futuristic, hyper-realistic picture of the car erupting from it. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned soon, but there's no precise date or time yet.
